The Judicial Appointments Council decided in today's meeting to ban the candidacy of 4 candidates for judge in the Constitutional Court, for the vacant position due to the resignation of judge Elsa Toska. The candidates are Eris Hysi, Sinan Tafaj, Klodian Rado, Gentian Zyberi.

The KED had foreseen in the agenda the presentation by the rapporteur of the progress of the verification process of several candidates who have competed to be elected member of the Constitutional Court in the vacant position announced by the Assembly of Albania. The rapporteur of this vacancy, selected by electronic lottery, presented to the members of the KED some of the findings regarding the candidates who have applied for the vacant position.

The Judicial Appointments Council, after reviewing the acts and procedure followed for the verification of these candidacies, as well as the documentation prepared by the rapporteur regarding the fulfillment of the legal conditions for candidacy, for the candidates specified in the agenda, after also hearing the opinion of the Ombudsman, regarding the procedure followed in the verification of these candidacies, decided to ban the candidacy.

The full and reasoned decisions will be published on the website of the Supreme Court, in the section designated for the Judicial Appointments Council. The candidates for whom the ban has been imposed have failed to meet one or more of the conditions provided for by the Constitution, the law and the by-laws.

The Judicial Appointments Council is continuing with the procedures for communicating decisions, which may also be subject to appeals by candidates. The Judicial Appointments Council, in accordance with the Constitution and the law, invites public institutions related to the justice system, civil society organizations active in the protection of human rights or established to protect the interests of users of the justice system, to submit their opinions regarding the candidacies to the Judicial Appointments Council./They/
