SP defended Xhaçka's mandate, Bardhi: Albania is no longer different

The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, reacted strongly to yesterday's decision of the Socialists not to send the issue of Olta Xhaçka's mandate to the Constitutional Court.

Through a post on the "X" social network, Bardhi declared that with this action, the Law Reform was finally executed in the Assembly.

According to him, the decision of the majority to ignore the authority of the Constitutional Court is an unprecedented act in the history of the country and worthy only of dictatorial regimes.

Bardhi emphasized that Albania, a candidate country for the EU and a member of NATO, has violated the basic principles of the rule of law, no longer having any differences with authoritarian countries.

WHITE'S REACTION:

1. With Edi Rama's political vote in the Assembly yesterday, the Justice Reform was finally executed. The constitutional coup of the Assembly ignoring the authority of the Constitutional Court is unprecedented in 34 years, unprecedented and worthy only of dictatorial regimes.

2. Edi Rama's propaganda for special commissions for the Rule of Law was finally buried yesterday. All those who suspected that the ER says one thing and does another, received the final answer with yesterday's vote, where for the second time the ER refused to execute the decisions of the CJK.

3. The personal state has nothing to do with the legal state. A candidate country for the EU and a NATO member country has kicked the elementary principles of the rule of law in front of every Albanian and international. Since yesterday, Albania has no difference with authoritarian countries!

4. GPPD strongly condemns yesterday's act of the Assembly and of Edi Rama, to give the status of inviolable by justice to his collaborator and guarantees that he will take every necessary step to protect democracy and the rule of law.

Although the Constitutional Court in its decision clearly stated that the validity of Xhaçka's mandate should be decided by the GJK, in today's session, only 25 MPs of the Opposition voted in favor of the request of the Constitutional Court. Meanwhile, 9 socialist deputies voted against and 65 others abstained. 39 deputies present in the hall have chosen to remain silent, not participating in the vote at all. At the end of the voting, the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali said that from the next day she will address the Venice Commission.

The Constitutional Court was clear in its stance that the case should be examined by it, but the majority has decided to stand by the defense of the socialist deputy until the end. In two previous votes, the SP refused to send the case to the Constitutional Court. Olta Xhaçka is accused of violating the Constitution after she voted when she was a minister to give public property to her husband Artan Gaçi, who received the status of "strategic investor".
