Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the "Kadare" literary award was moved and returned this year with its sixth edition.
Today was announced the winner of this competition where the novel "Birds of Cuckoo" written by Gani Mehmetaj was announced the winner of the literary award "Kadare", while the 5 finalists of this competition with manuscripts in prose were the authors Behar Jacaj, Ballsor Hoxha, Arbër Ahmetaj and Marcel Hila.
In the sixth edition of this competition, initiated by the Pashko Institute, 30 Albanian authors participated with their manuscript works in the genre of prose.
The novel "Birds of a Feather" is an intriguing tale of people and time, of love and hate, of hope and disappointment. A Serbian settler, presents the 40-year chronicle of events, the fate of the newcomers and the misfortunes of the locals. "Birds of Cuckoo" deals with outstanding literary and artistic values, hatred between Serbs and Albanians, their mutual relations, unrealized love that intrigues the reader, while enriching the Albanian literature. The author of this book, Gani Mehmetaj, was born in Peja and is a well-known writer and publicist, and a large number of works bear his signature.
