SPAK reports today to the GJKKO the two-month investigation into Erion Veliaj

SPAK will report today to the Criminal Court regarding the progress of the two-month investigation against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The Special Prosecution will report at 12:30, while this is the second time it has presented a detailed report on the file for which Veliaj is being investigated.

The report will reflect all actions taken over the last two months regarding the mayor, who has been in custody since February 10 on charges of corruption and money laundering.

At the end of the reporting, SPAK is expected to express whether the security measure "prison arrest" should remain in force or can be relaxed, journalist Klodiana Lala reported.

Veliaj's lawyer, Ermir Beta, told News24 that he will consider the possibility of requesting relief from the security measure, depending on the content of the investigative actions that will be presented to him today.

Today's hearing is of crucial importance, as if it is determined that there is no longer a need for further investigative actions against the suspended mayor, the security measure could be changed, paving the way for a new development in this case.
