The Sun: The Conservatives have failed to curb immigration, while Labor is

The Conservatives have no plan to reduce immigration, while Labor has no desire to do so, such a large influx is not sustainable

The astonishing and all-time record increase in immigration is the main proof that the Conservatives have lost all control over the borders, writes The Sun.

We don't blame those who come here legally to seek new opportunities. The problem lies with the politicians. All the while they lie to the voters that they too want the numbers to go down.

Here, then, half a million new people. . . population of Bristol, Bradford or Liverpool. They arrived in just 12 months and all 504,000 have to be provided with housing, health care and transport, a massive burden on already crumbling services.

Immigration to the UK is at its highest level since the Second World War. Another 277,000 are foreign students who flock to our enviable universities, although many will stay permanently.

Perhaps if 40,000 illegal immigrants did not land in a year, almost half of them Albanians, the British would not be concerned.

Brexit was about regaining control of borders. Most wanted a curb on migrants, to ease pressure on services.

The Conservatives have failed. And it could get even worse under a Labor government. Their supporters want open borders. The Conservatives have no plan to reduce immigration.
