A taxi driver in Vlora was arrested for transporting firearms

A 54-year-old taxi driver has been arrested by the Vlora Police after an automatic firearm was found in his vehicle. According to official sources, he is suspected of collaborating with a 17-year-old to transport the weapon in exchange for a sum of money that he would receive after selling it.

The police operation codenamed "The Passenger", conducted a few days ago, has led to the arrest of the taxi driver, citizen IB, 54 years old, resident of Fier. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old who was traveling with him has been declared wanted by the police.

Vlora/Investigative actions continue within the framework of the police operation codenamed 'The Passenger', which took place a few days ago, to crack down on a case of attempted firearms sale. A 54-year-old man (the taxi driver where the firearm was found) has been arrested and put in handcuffs. The Specialists for the Investigation of Serious Crimes, of the Vlora Police Department, following the investigative actions carried out within the framework of the police operation "The Passenger", based on information provided by police intelligence, arrested and detained citizen IB, 54 years old, resident of Fier.

During the operation conducted 4 days ago, on the “Fier – Vlora” road, in the trunk of the taxi with the driver, citizen IB, and a 17-year-old passenger, the Police services found an automatic firearm, which the 17-year-old, who was arrested in flagrante delicto, was suspected of transporting towards Vlora, with the intention of selling. From the investigative actions, it is suspected that citizen IB is involved in this case, as he has collaborated with the 17-year-old, to transport the firearm, in exchange for a sum of money that he would receive after selling it. Work continues to capture citizen E. Gj., who was declared wanted within the framework of the operation, and to fully document this case. The procedural materials were passed on to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora.
