Reducing cases with Covid-19, doctor: No effect of vaccination, quarantine for immigrants does not make sense
Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti says that the reduction of cases with Covid-19 has come because a very high number of citizens have already passed the coronavirus. As for the impact of vaccination on reducing infections, he points out that it is still early, as only 10% of the population has been vaccinated with a single dose.
"Vaccination has not come into play yet because its number is small because we have about 10% of the population vaccinated with a single dose. "The main reason is that a high percentage of people have spent it, especially in Tirana ," he said.
Regarding the decision of the Technical Committee of Experts to impose a two-week quarantine for citizens coming from Greece and Northern Macedonia, the epidemiologist told "Report TV" that it does not make sense. He added that in our country a lighter form of COVID cases is being noticed, unlike the beginning of this year.
"It does not make much sense because we know that from travelers from one country to another the percentage of cases that a country has had is less than 2%, as a result travelers do not affect so much the curve of a city," said the doctor.
