Kurti for the Financial Times: 4 things Serbia loves. If the West allows this game, tensions will continue
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has given another interview to foreign media, where he raises the concern of a possible conflict in the Balkans, instigated by Serbia with the support of the Kremlin.
He told the "Financial Times" that "We are worried, but not afraid, how the situation will develop will depend a lot on the attitude and pressure of the Western democracies on Belgrade."
Kurti underlined that, "What Serbia wants is to receive EU funds, Russian weapons, Chinese investments and American tolerance. If the Western democracies do not allow this, a solution will be very easy to achieve. But if [Serbs] are allowed to play this game, this tension will continue."
Based on this, the prime minister asked the West to facilitate Kosovo's membership in NATO and the EU. It also wants to put pressure on the governments that have not yet recognized Kosovo's independence.
These calls come a few days before Prime Minister Kurti meets in Brussels with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
