Anti-drug operation in five cities in Kosovo, 5 arrested

Weapons, drugs, cash, vehicles and electronic equipment were seized during an operation spanning several cities in Kosovo, where five people ended up in handcuffs on suspicion of involvement in a criminal group, drug trafficking and money laundering.

The operation codenamed "White Star" was carried out simultaneously in Pristina, Peja, Prizren, Viti and Drenas, under the direction of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office and with the support of Europol, as well as the authorities of Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

According to the Special Prosecution Office and the Kosovo Police, the five suspects have been detained for 48 hours by order of the special prosecutor. They are suspected of participating in or organizing an organized criminal group, unauthorized distribution and sale of narcotics, and money laundering.

During the searches conducted at several locations, authorities seized 6 firearms, 5 magazines and 239 cartridges. 9.67 grams of cocaine and 35.18 grams of marijuana seeds were also found.

The list of seized materials also includes 25 mobile phones, 10 computers, 13 USBs, a DVR, 16 watches and 7,595 euros in cash.

An important part of the operation was the seizure of 10 vehicles and a motorcycle, which are suspected to be related to the activity of the group being investigated.

Kosovo authorities announced that the operation was conducted in cooperation with international partners and was monitored on the ground by representatives of Europol, as well as by law enforcement authorities of Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

The Special Prosecution Office and the Kosovo Police stated that investigations will continue, while emphasizing their commitment to cracking down on criminal groups and the fight against drug trafficking and money laundering.
