The fires in Prevalle are extinguished with the intervention of KFOR

The municipality of Prizren announced on Wednesday that the fires in Prevalle, in the south of Kosovo, have been extinguished with the intervention of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo said a day ago that the fires did not pose a danger to the lives of the residents. According to a post on Facebook of the Municipality of Prizren, the fire was extinguished with water that was thrown from above, and there are no signs that the situation will be repeated.

In recent days, Kosovo has faced high temperatures - over 35 degrees - just like other regions of the Western Balkans. Prevalla is a ski resort and tourist village, which is approximately 30 kilometers from Prizren, and about twelve kilometers from Brezovica, the largest skiing center in Kosovo.

Last week, fires were also reported in the Sharri National Park, but they have also been extinguished. Fires were also reported in July and August in the neighboring countries of Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia./ REL
