Changing borders in the Balkans, 'Der Standard' mentions Edi Rama's statement: He testified that he saw the map
The Austrian newspaper "Der Standard" has dedicated an article to non-papers (unofficial documents), related to the change of borders, which have recently caused a stir in the Balkans.
The media wrote about the non-paper of the Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, saying that although the Slovenian government has denied being the author of this document, it remains unclear where it came from.
" Der Standard" casts doubt how Jansas office says a paper that does not even exist, may come from "the Slovenian leftist opposition".
The newspaper also mentions as evidence the statement of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who a while ago stated that he saw the map.
Full article:
In recent weeks, some so-called 'non-paper'- ie. Unofficial documents - on political proposals in Southeast Europe have been made public. A letter published by the Kosovar newspaper "Koha Ditore" is supposed to respond to suggestions from Germany and France.
Therefore, it is about mutual recognition of Kosovo and Serbia as sovereign states while maintaining their territorial integrity. Northern Kosovo - inhabited mainly by Serbs - will become an autonomous region, the virtually divided city of Mitrovica a common economic area. The Orthodox Church will be given a special status, which it already has through the constitution of Kosovo. An agreement will be reached by February 2022. But whether this is possible is more than debatable.
Vucic refused recognition
In the past, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said he would not agree to Serbia recognizing Kosovo without border changes. Vucic tried three years ago - with the support of some lobbyists - to push for proposals for border changes along ethnic lines. Therefore, he wanted northern Kosovo to come to Serbia, but Germany had opposed him.
Massive border changes that would probably lead to violence, as was the case in the 1990s, were also at the center of another letter published by the Slovenian news platform necenzurirano.si almost two weeks ago. Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša was described by some media as the author of this letter, the content of which was immediately rejected by the EU and important politicians in Germany.
In any case, the positions in the so-called Janša letter correspond exactly to the wishes of the radical ethnic nationalists in Southeast Europe.
