'Snow in Tirana', a journey to a city darker and colder than the one we know

The stories of the private detective Bardhyl Nini continue through a chaotic Tirana, where the war between good and evil, power, money and love for the country never stops.

Private investigator Bardhyl Nini is sure of three things. First, the only justice he will find in Albania is what he will manage to do with his own hands. Second, "Skënderbeu" coffee without cognac is like a rifle without cartridges. The third and last: go to Mejdani square, or fight with your heart and teeth until the end, or don't go at all.

Bardhyli seems to have found comfort in his Tirana. He spends his days in the neighborhood bar with a coffee and cognac before, playing dominoes and chasing trivial cases. When Esther knocks on his door, it seems as if the task he will give her is just an adultery like many others. But from that moment on, the private investigator enters a whirlwind of events that he can no longer control. Soon, he will find himself surrounded by the city's strongmen, ordinary swindlers and crooks, prostitutes, corrupt judges, children of partisans, police and almond sellers. Bardhylit must understand that every solution brings a sacrifice, and every sacrifice must be paid for.

Darien Levani (Fratar 1982), jeton në Itali që nga mosha 18-vjeçare, ku punon si avokat. Levani është fitues i çmimit “Penda e Argjendtë” në Shqipëri për romanin debutues “Poetët bëjnë dashuri ndryshe” (Botime Pegi, 2012). Prej atëherë ka botuar edhe romanin “Dopjo gjashta”. Ai shkruan edhe në shqipe, edhe në italishte.

Romani i tij i parë, i shkruar në italishte, Solo andata, grazie (2010), korri sukses të madh. Në Itali, u nderua me çmimet Nuto Revelli e Pietro Conti. Në 2017, romani Toringrad (Edizioni Spartaco) fitoi çmimin Glauco Felici, Tolfa Gialli e Noir. Në 2019, qeveria shqiptare i akordoi titullin “Ambasador i Kombit” për meritat e tij letrare.
