Ed Sheeran's statement worries fans

Ed Sheeran has spoken about his absence on social media. After being relatively quiet on Instagram, the 31-year-old singer has returned to the platform to have a candid conversation with followers about his absence.

"Hey guys. I realize I haven't been as engaged on my social media or with my online fan base over the last couple of years, and the stuff that's been posted on this account might have gotten a little boring. More sorry. It's my fault."

As for why he's been largely silent on these channels, Sheeran said he's been dealing with some things privately.

"The reason I'm making this video is, just to be completely honest, I've had some very turbulent things going on in my personal life," he continued. "So I didn't like being online and pretending to be something I'm not when I didn't feel like it. And I know it sounds weird, but that's why I'm making this video to say that things are looking up and I'm back online."

The four-time Grammy winner - who will go on tour this year - hinted that fans should now keep their eyes peeled, noting that "weird posts are going to start popping up here". The "Photograph" artist has not given any other details about what he is going through.
