Pandemic and global crisis, Bill Gates optimistic about the future of humanity
Bill Gates spends much of his time talking about existential global threats, such as climate change or future pandemics that could affect the world. However, the co-founder of Microsoft is very optimistic when talking about the future of humanity. Gates believes that anyone born within the next two decades will live better than those born in previous years. In an interview at the Lowy Institute in Australia, Gates said:
"I'm still very optimistic and I think it would be much better to be born in the next 20, 40 or 60 years than at any other time in the past."
The COVID-19 pandemic that brought the world to a standstill, the failure of governments to meet stated goals to address climate change or the conflict in Ukraine, which indirectly affects the rest of the planet, make Bill Gates think that times are better the good is yet to come. One of the main reasons Gates believes people will live better in the future is the advances that have been made in public health and technological advances. Gates underlined:
"There are fewer and fewer illiterate people in the world, and there are many tools to drive our innovation."
The tech billionaire was recently photographed in Australia with a "mystery" woman while looking out to sea in Sydney, outside the Opera House. The pair appeared to be taking a tour of the city and were seen stopping to admire the panoramic views of the harbour. It is not known who the Microsoft billionaire was dating, or the nature of their relationship.
