The UN General Assembly adopts the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica

The United Nations General Assembly passed the resolution recognizing the genocide in Srebrenica.

84 countries voted for the resolution, 19 against and 68 abstained. Through the resolution, July 11 will be marked as the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide in Srebrenica.

The resolution was sponsored by thirty countries while the official proponents were Germany and Rwanda.

The resolution, which was adopted amid fierce opposition from Serbs, condemns denial of the genocide, something that is repeatedly done by Serb officials in both Bosnia and Serbia.
