Debate in the European Parliament about the attack on Zubin Potok, the Austrian MEP demands an international investigation
The attack carried out on November 29 in the Ibër-Lepenci water channel in Zubin Potok, north of Kosovo, has also created a debate in the Foreign Policy Committee of the European Parliament.
The chairman of the commission, David McAllister, emphasized that the European Parliament is deeply concerned about the situation in the north of Kosovo.
"The European Parliament has strongly condemned these acts, which destabilize Kosovo."
Following the debate, several MEPs expressed solidarity with Kosovo and asked for more evidence of the involvement of the Serbian authorities.
Thomas Waitz, MEP from Austria, called for an international investigation into the Zubin Potok case.
"Serbia has said that it wants to be part of the investigation, but the similar situation after Banjska did not bring anything concrete. It is time for the Serbian Government to take responsibility and act against the extremists."
He also called for the five EU countries that have not recognized Kosovo to do so as soon as possible.
"It is time for these countries to recognize Kosovo as independent to send a clear message against destabilization," he emphasized.
