Greece deports 9 European citizens

The police detained 28 Greek and foreign protesters after blocking a university building, with accusations that they had stopped the operation of a public institution.

Greek media reports that the 9 banned protesters are from Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Spain, arrested in the Athens law university protest, will be deported from the country, their lawyers said, local media reports.

The Greek protesters have already been released pending trial, while the 9 foreign citizens, one boy and eight girls, aged 22 to 33, remain in custody awaiting the decision on deportation.

Pro-Palestinian protests have been held in many Greek cities since the start of Israel's brutal war on Gaza in October.
