Bulgaria will withdraw its ambassador to North Macedonia and stop all interstate projects with Skopje. The news was announced by the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nikolai Milkov.
The conclusion was reached after the discussion in the Parliamentary Committee of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria where the focus was on the recent tensions with North Macedonia, after the physical attack on Hristijan Pendikov - the representative of a Bulgarian club in the city of Ohrid.
The attack on him occurred on January 19, while investigations have not yet determined the author of the attack. So far, 4 people are under investigation.
"We are all of the opinion that things cannot continue as they have been. What is happening is not a productive approach. It should be clear that things have changed. Things will not continue, we will examine more components and elements of our bilateral cooperation with this neighboring country of ours" , declared the head of Bulgarian diplomacy, Nikolai Milkov.
Asked if after the incident Sofia will block talks with the RMV on EU integration, Milkov said that this will not happen.
"The talks have never started there, as a reaction to the incident, other measures will be taken, such as the termination of all joint interstate projects with North Macedonia" , said the Bulgarian Foreign Minister.
