Vuçi për for "Mini-Schengen": From January 1, 2023 we will have no borders between our countries, we are not naive
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that if the "Mini-Schengen" initiative is implemented within a year and a half, starting from January 1, 2023, there will be no borders between the countries of the Western Balkans.
This is what he said at the "Open Balkans" Economic Forum taking place in Skopje, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and Prime Minister Edi Rama, but the one of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was absent.
Vucic said the "Mini-Schengen" would boost revenues for all three countries, calling the project a savior of the economy.
He added that no one will work in favor of the states if they do not do it themselves. Vucic stressed that it is time to demonstrate skills and that the countries of the region should not wait for someone else to lead them.
"We are not naive to think that someone will work in favor of our states if we do not do it ourselves. To demonstrate that we are capable and not to expect that someone will lead us, to lead, that we are ready to take our fate and work in the interest of our citizens.
If we manage to do this for a year and a half, we have independent and sovereign countries. Do you know what this means for transportation? You will have 6-9% lower operating costs because there is no stopping between countries. We need to see how we will provide access, the entry related to VAT.
Yet this is salvation for our economies. All three of our countries will end the year with 76 billion Euros gross production. "If we do that, on January 1, 2023, we will have no borders between our countries ," Vucic said.
