French President Macron Arrives in Belgrade for Two-Day Visit on Monday

French President Emmanuel Macron will be visiting Serbia on Monday and Tuesday, and his visit and possible agreements that may be achieved during it were the main topics in Serbian media on Saturday and Sunday.

Macron as supposed to visit Serbia back in December 2018, but his visit was postponed because of the unrest in France and the “yellow vests” protests.

It has been officially announced that Macron and his host, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, will sign more than 20 treaties, allegedly 24 or 25, and media with close ties to the government adding that five of them will be related to the military, with three being for radar systems.

Military analysts claim that Serbia will confirm the acquisition of the Mistral short-range air defense missile system, and the pro-regime TV Pink reported that there would be the talk of the purchase of several French (EU) helicopters for military and civilian use.

Analysts claim that Macron is trying to persuade Belgrade to return to the negotiating table with Pristina, thus increasing his own influence and position within the EU.

Economic relations are also one of the main topics, experts claim, adding that the most important tasks will be in connection with the development of the Belgrade metro.
