Haradinaj: Kosovo can Exist Even without Serbia’s Recognition

The outgoing Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj emphasized on Thursday that possibility of dividing the territory “is not a danger anymore” for Kosovo and added that “in the end, Kosovo can go on even without Serbia’s recognition”.

After coming back from USA Haradinaj said to the reporters that he met in New York with Special Representative of the American State Secretary for Western Balkans Matthew Palmer and discussed “bilateral relations between the two countries and the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia”.

Haradinaj said that he traveled to the USA in order to clarify Kosovo’s position – “now already known and clear views against division and change of borders”.

He also met in New York with the German representative in the UN Christoph Heusgen.

The leader of Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (PSD) Shpend Ahmeti said that Haradinaj told him that he must travel to New York or bad things would happen for Kosovo, since Kosovo and Serbian presidents, Hashim Thaci, and Aleksandar Vucic, respectively, were already there and they could “prepare another map for division of Kosovo, like the last time”.

Koha Ditore daily wrote that, at the margins of UN General Assembly in New York, Kosovo and Serbian officials discussed “the final deal” regarding Kosovo and the compromise they wished to achieve, while Pristina representatives were introduced to a request to remove obstacles and continue the dialogue with Belgrade.
