Hoti: Only mutual recognition can normalize Kosovo-Serbia relations

Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti said on Wednesday that Kosovo had made all the compromises it could – by accepting the so-called Ahtisaari’s plan, drafted by former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari.

He claimed that the only way to normalize relations with Serbia was mutual recognition of the two countries and that now was the best time to “complete the formation of Kosovo’s statehood” in that way.

Hoti added that on the advice of international friends, in this case, the United States, they are meeting in Washington to agree on the agenda of economic cooperation, but that all this is in the function of normalizing relations, which according to him “means mutual recognition”.

Kosovo’s prime minister confirmed that he would meet with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday.
