Kurti: Tariffs To Be Revoked in Reciprocity in Relations With Serbia
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Wednesday that the 100 percent tariffs on Serbian goods will be replaced in full reciprocity, news agencies reported.
Kurti told a news conference following his meeting with European Union office chief Nataliya Apostolova that his government will introduce “political, economic and commercial reciprocity” to replace the 100 percent tariffs.
He said that the Kosovo Albanians support the reciprocity principle, even the ones in the opposition who did not vote for his party.
Apostolova refused to comment on reciprocity but said that the EU was clear in its demand to revoke the tariffs and wants to see the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue resume.
No agreement if Belgrade insists on getting something:
Kurti said that no agreement can be reached if Belgrade's approach is that it has to get something.
That can’t be the starting point to resolve problems, Kurti told the Kosovo state TV (RTK) late on Tuesday night. “We are not here to compensate appetites but to heal wounds," he said.
Kurti said that he doesn’t see how a solution can be found with that approach but added that a context can be created with Western states which will make it possible to find a solution for the Kosovo issue.
