German Ambassador to Pristina Christian Heldt delivered an invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, to visit Berlin, news agencies reported on Saturday.

Kosovo-based media reported previously that Merkel sent a message to Kurti that he would face many challenges and state problems that Kosovo Government must tackle. She emphasized that some of these problems, which must be solved, would be the rule of law, fighting crime and corruption, improvement of economic situation and dialogue with Serbia.

Serbian President AleksandarVucic also said that he was expecting his meeting with Merkel in Berlin in the upcoming month. He said to the reporters on Sunday that he knew the date of the meeting, but this was “not a moment to announce it”, and he also did not want to specify if Kurti would be in the German capital at the same time.

Vucic said that he was expecting a discussion on the methodology of talks on the resolution of the Kosovo issue, “and not some kind of plan to resolve Kosovo issue, as it has been speculated in the media”. He explained that no one could just bring the plan and say “take it or leave it”.

According to Vucic, it would be more important for Merkel to talk to Kurti than him.

“The Chancellor must see what kind of policy Kurti will have, what she can count on and what he will do, except the fact that he will press charges for genocide against Serbia and increase expenses for firearms in police and army by 100 percent”, Vucic said.

When asked if Germany was accelerating talks about Kosovo because the activity of USA, Vucic said that he would not comment on this, but for Serbia, the situation would certainly be difficult, “because any solution coming from the outside would be a solution of recognition of independence in one form or another”.
