Montenegro Declares End of Epidemic on Its Territory

The Montenegrin National coordination body for infectious diseases has, at the proposal of the Institute of public health, declared the end of the coronavirus epidemic in Montenegro, announced the Montenegrin government on Tuesday.

“This is the result of several months’ long efforts in the system and of our citizens. Thank you for your trust. Some measures will be terminated, but seeing that the pandemic is still going on, the measures against importing the virus still remain in force”, states the announcement on the official Twitter government profile.

The end of the epidemic has been declared after 28 days have passed without recording a single new case of coronavirus. This has met the key condition to formally declare the end of the epidemic.

The first case of coronavirus was registered in Montenegro on 17 March. There were a total of 324 registered cases, out of which 315 recovered, and nine died. There are currently 1,064 under surveillance.
