New Head of EU Mission Appointed in Kosovo

Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark was appointed the new head of EULEX - the European Union legal mission in Kosovo, with his mandate lasting through June 14, the Beta news agency reported on Thursday.

As head of EULEX, Swedish diplomat will support the relevant institutions in the area of rule of law in Kosovo in order to increase their efficiency, sustainability, multiethnicity and responsibility without political influence and in accordance with the EU best practice, reads the Mission statement.

Wigemark will replace Greek diplomat Alexandra Papadopoulos.

He served as head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and as an EU special representative in that country until August 2019.
