Norwegian ambassador skeptical about a Belgrade-Pristina deal

Norway will support any agreement between Serbia and Kosovo that ensures stability in the region and the respect of human rights, ambassador of that country in Belgrade Arne Sanes Bjornstad declared, but also expressed doubt as to a possible deal by June, as announced by the media.

In an interview with news agency Beta, Bjornstad said he would be very surprised if Serbia and Kosovo would reach an agreement in June because “there are many obstacles on that way”.

He said that it is up to the two parties to reach an agreement and that Oslo will support any deal.

The ambassador also said that Kosovo authorities should immediately lift the 100 percent taxes on goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and to abide by CEFTA provisions on free trade.

“They should not have introduced them in the first place”, Bjornstad underlined.
