Russian arrested in Kosovo than promptly released

Among the arrested persons there was also a Russian citizen Mikhail Krasnoshchekov, whom the Kosovo President Hashim Thaci originally called “a Russian agent masked behind diplomatic status” who allegedly obstructed the Kosovo police.

Very quickly, UNMIK made an announcement, in which it is stated that the two arrested persons were its staff members, out of whom one was Krasnoshchekov, and it requested that the police treat them in accordance with regulations.

UNMIK Head Zahir Tanin called for their immediate release, adding that “any harm to United Nations staff will be met with the highest degree of diplomatic and international legal responses”.

The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly reacted, after which Krasnoshchekov was released about 3 pm.

According to the claims of the Serb doctors, his cheekbone has been broken by the butt of a rifle.
