Serbian President: No Agreement Reached on Kosovo

There is no big plan or great agreement for the Kosovo problem and all claims to that effect are false news, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday.

“There have been many untrue, false news in the past days about great agreements being reached and a plan is made and that everything is known. No, that was not discussed, nor does anything similar exist. If it did I would say it as always. I never deceived our people,” Vucic said.

Reports that Washington is allegedly pressuring Belgrade and Pristina to reach an agreement to normalize relations as soon as possible was brought up by British journalist and Balkans expert Tim Judah but was denied by the American president’s envoy for Kosovo Richard Grenell.

Vucic said that it is indicative that this is being talked about by analysts close to centers of power who want to see Serbia humiliated and are insisting on Belgrade accepting the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

“They would be happy, I would be a great politician and Serbia would have a European future… My condition is that there can be no fundamental talks before the tariffs are revoked completely," he said.
