Thaci Harshly Criticizes EU for Neglecting the Balkans

Internal turmoil in the European Union “blurred the vision of the Union” and its representatives were unable to resist the instinct of neglecting the region of Western Balkans, President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci said on Wednesday.

Thaci said that Kosovo was not to blame for internal problems of EU and it did not pose any risk to the Union.

He expressed dissatisfaction because Albania and Northern Macedonia received some significant confirmation that they were on the road to the EU membership, while Kosovo expected somewhat minimal, but it received different treatment from the Union as compared to the others and “this injustice did not go unnoticed”.

Thaci called on all leaders of the institutions and parliamentary parties to think about this difficult situation that Kosovo faced regarding exercising its membership in EU and NATO and he added it was necessary to break away from isolation and stagnation.
