US Demands Extradition of Eleven Residents of Nis Accused of “Digital Fraud”
The Higher Court has received on Friday a letter rogatory from the USA for the extradition of eleven persons from the city of Nis in South Serbia, who have recently been arrested and charged with digital fraud, portal Juzne vesti reports.
The hearing of suspects had been scheduled for Monday but was postponed in order for defense lawyers to become familiar and to prepare for the requirements under this letter.
The next hearing is reportedly scheduled for September 30 at nine o’clock, at the request of all lawyers.
Among the young men who had been arrested as early as in July are citizens of Serbia, Montenegro, the Philippines, and Austria, all of whom reside in Nis.
They have been charged with the criminal act of fraud and of illegally earning seventy million dollars on the Internet.
A resident of Texas is among the victims of fraud, prompting the US judiciary and the FBI, which also helped arrest the perpetrators, to become involved in this case, Juzne vesti reports.
