US Embassy in Kosovo Wants Tariffs Lifted Unconditionally

The United States wants the tariffs on imports of goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina lifted without establishing reciprocity because they don’t want new barriers created, the US Embassy in Pristina said.

The US was clear that Kosovo should lift all tariffs and not create new barriers because that policy harms the citizens of Kosovo and its economy. We are opposed to the latest step of implementing reciprocity on the movement of goods from Serbia, a statement said.

The embassy said the reciprocity measures create problems at a time when Belgrade and Pristina reached agreements on air, rail and road traffic and created conditions to continue their dialogue.

The Kosovo government decided on Tuesday evening to revoke the 100 percent tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina which were imposed in November 2018 and introduced reciprocity measures on Serbia.
