The increased presence of the news international players in the Western Balkans was a challenge for the EU and the bloc should consider its role in the new environment, the European Union's Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi said on Thursday.

„It's not surprising to see more international players in the region considering its investment, particularly in the energy and transport sectors. A long-term risk that must not be underestimated. Our responsibility is to determine our role in such an environment“, Várhelyi said, N1 reported.
