Vucic: Serbia “10 Times More Powerful” Thanks to Russian Weapons

Serbia is now “ten times more powerful and better equipped than it was in the recent past,” primarily thanks to the procurement of Russian weapons, stated President Aleksandar Vucic on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after a visit to a rocket brigade, Vucic said that he is “especially happy” that he could go public with such an assessment of Serbia’s defensive power on the anniversary of the downing of a USAF F-117A stealth fighter during the 1999 NATO bombing.

Vucic pointed out the significance of the procurement of the Russian Pantsir missile system as a result of good cooperation with Russia.

“This is great support for the protection of our cities, protection of important facilities. We are continuing to strengthen our army. Freedom is the greatest treasure of our people and country. I am proud to today be in the heroic brigade that 21 years ago brought down the F-16 [sic],” he said.

Serbia is now in a situation to procure the necessary armament because it has gained economic strength, he continued.

“We don’t want to attack anyone, but to consequently guarantee the safety and future for our children,” he added.

Vucic announced that the “largest to date” exercise of the Serbian Air Force will be organized on the Pester Plateau in October, where “all the antiaircraft systems and aircraft that we have” will be displayed.

“Everything will boom, we will show huge strength, which you haven’t been able to see so far. We are preparing for October. Serbia is a respectable military force, in line with its territory and number of troops,” Vucic said.
