Vucic Starts Consultations on Formation of the Government; Meets with the Coalition of Ethnic Albanians
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic started on Tuesday consultations for the formation of the new government by meeting the representatives of the Albanian Democratic Alternative, a coalition of parties of ethnic Albanians from the south of the country.
“Representatives of Albanian parties brought up intentions to integrate Albanians as much as possible into state institutions, as well as the necessity of economic progress, for both southern Serbia and the whole country”, it was stated in the announcement issued after the meeting from the President’s service for cooperation with the media.
Vucic “carefully listened to all their objections against the functioning of the state and emphasized that the state would be ready to aid the development of southern Serbia in many ways”, it was added.
The leader of the coalition Shaip Kamberi said after the meeting for TV N1 that possible participation of the parties of ethnic Albanians in the future government would depend on the relation of the state towards the problems the parties gathered in the coalition pointed out.
“We had demanded that we were bringing up before every government for many years”, Kamberi said.
Vucic was supposed to have a separate meeting with the leader of Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Sulejman Ugljanin on Tuesday, but he refused to meet him, the media reported.
SDA previously announced that they believed that the elections held on June 21 were not free, democratic, and regular and that re-elections were needed, and this was the reason why Ugljanin would not respond the call to consultations.
