Vucic Talks to Trump for a Minute, Invites US President to Visit Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in New York, US, that he had invited President of the United States of America Donald Trump to visit Serbia.

He boasted to reporters of pro-regime TV Pink that he had talked to the US president “between half a minute and a minute and a half.”

“I invited him to visit Serbia. Serbs love him the most after the Poles,” Vucic calculated.

Prior to that, Vucic, who attends a session of the UN General Assembly in New York, conferred with US State Department officials about the possibility of resuming the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

Vucic said the United States is interested in “resolving the Kosovo knot” and does not want “it to stand as a frozen conflict for the next ten years.”

He emphasized that he could now talk to Americans “in a reasonable and rational manner.”

“You can come up with your own solution and ideas. Regardless of that if they are going to accept it or not, they want to hear it,” Vucic said. He also said that “eight percent of UN countries” have withdrawn Kosovo recognition, or are about to withdraw it.

Vucic conferred with the Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker and with the Special Envoy to Western Balkans Matthew Palmer about Kosovo.
