Vucic: There’s No Government in Kosovo without the Serb List

It is clear that without the Serb List there is no Kosovo government, Serbian President AleksandarVucic said on Wednesday.

Vucic, in a statement to Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) from Davos, where he participated in the World Economic Forum, recalled that the key requirement of the Serb List, in addition to the safety of Kosovo Serbs, is lifting of the 100% tariffs on goods from Serbia introduced by the Kosovo government in late 2018.

If tariffs were not introduced, Serbia in 2019 would be “the number two or three country in the growth rate”, however, even without that it “is in the top five or six,” he said.

“That says enough about the importance of [abolishing Kosovo tariffs] for us,” Vucic said.

Vucic also announced on Wednesday that he would confer with US Special Presidential Envoy for Serbia and Kosovo Richard Grenell in Belgrade on Friday. Grenell had talks with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on Wednesday in Pristina.

Vucic had an informal meeting with US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien on Tuesday in Davos.

The US stance on Kosovo is contrary to Serbia’s, but Washington is now ready to hear Belgrade’s demands and views, Vucic said.

“I am not saying that now the US will come to our side, as one might think, but they are ready to hear what our demands and problems are, what Serbia thinks in that regard. In that sense, I think we have opened some doors behind which we can talk more openly with US partners than we could before,” he said.
