Boçi: The majority is blocking the debate on the law banning gender

The Chairman of the Committee on Education and Public Information, Luçiano Boçi, accused the majority of unjustifiably blocking the consideration of the draft law proposed by MP Tritan Shehu to ban gender propaganda to children.

During the committee meeting, Boçi said that the decision to postpone the draft law contradicts the agreement reached earlier at the Conference of Speakers, where it was determined that the initiative would be discussed at the plenary session on June 11.

According to him, the majority's argument that more time is needed to study the draft law is unbelievable, remembering that in the past, laws with great impact have been quickly adopted, such as those on strategic investments, cultural heritage or other important issues.

"Why is additional time being requested for this law, while other laws with much greater weight have not been requested? Why do we have two standards? The consensus was clear and the agenda was approved. I don't understand why you are violating it," said Boçi in response to the socialist MP and former Minister of Education, Evis Kushi.

The Democratic MP argued that the proposed initiative addresses an issue that, according to him, directly affects the education and protection of children, while sharply criticizing what he considered to be a lack of will on the part of the majority to hold a parliamentary debate on this topic.

Boçi also raised concerns regarding the policies that, according to him, are being promoted by state institutions regarding gender identity, stating that the opposition will continue to oppose any initiative that, according to it, violates the interest and protection of children.

At the end of the debate, he accused the majority of ignoring decisions made in parliamentary bodies and using the power of cards to defeat opposition initiatives, demanding respect for procedures and agreements previously reached in the Assembly.
