Retirement age even more difficult than working life

Calculated and conceived to be a calmer period due to the contribution they have made throughout their lives, in fact the opposite is happening. Pensioners are currently facing perhaps the most difficult challenge of their lives. That of difficulty in securing even daily food.

As if a lifetime of work, sacrifice, and difficulty raising children weren't enough, pensioners now seem to be going through their most difficult period, while it should have been the opposite.

Even medium and high pensions are not enough for the most basic things related to their livelihood, such as water and electricity bills or medicines. While they are deprived of many food items.

A2 CNN has received the opinions of several pensioners in Gjirokastra who share how they are coping with their lives.

The administrator of a meat shop says that pensioners are always on his customer lists, as this is the only opportunity for them to enjoy a piece of meat once a week, or two weeks.

And as if these troubles were not enough, the greatest despair of this age is loneliness, as economic impossibility in the country has driven children abroad to emigrate. A2 CNN
