Berisha: Our battle will be against the wall of patriarchy

In unveiling the DP's 'Empowerment of Women and Girls' program, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha emphasized that the battle is against the wall of patriarchy.

Guaranteeing success for women in Albania, Berisha stated that the DP will do 'everything so that the minimum wage, which is generally more common among women than men, due to some sectors, is real and does not dare to act, as was said, by taking some and giving them back'.

Sali Berisha's speech:

The fundamental issue, of course, is the wall of patriarchy.

The wall of patriarchy is a centuries-old wall and, as I always say, it is the main violator of freedoms and human rights in Albania and in the world.

Therefore, the battle against this wall is first and foremost a battle for social and human emancipation.

This wall has consolidated huge inequalities.

I tell you, in 2005, when we calculated the salaries of male and female employees, it turned out that women had salaries 36 percent lower than men.

Of course, we made very decisive interventions, doubling and more than doubling salaries in sectors dominated by women, and this came down to roughly EU levels, down to 17.8 percent.

I set an example, and so I am here before you today to guarantee that our battle will be waged first against the wall of patriarchy.

Against any form of discrimination.

Fatmira highlighted a very interesting moment, all those who have taught have had an absolute ratio of 10 to 10 students or pupils, 8 have been the most excellent girls, 2-3 have been boys.

This is the undisputed intellectual superiority of girls.

For decades, intelligence tests have been superior to men. But for a couple of decades, they have been clearly superior to girls.

Why? Because now the study's samples are equally educated, they are educated girls and boys.

And these tests prove that girls have superior intellectual indicators to their male peers.

I emphasized this moment because the issue of attitudes towards the role of girls and women is not only a fundamental issue of social emancipation, but also an issue of the extraordinary potential that women and girls carry within themselves, which must be utilized in the best interest of themselves and society.

Every woman, every girl, every organization supporting women's rights should take one thing into consideration, that those women and girls should never give up their careers.

They must endure great sacrifices.

But there is nothing more important than remaining undefeated in defending their career and pursuing their career.

The most reliable studies have shown that the arduous path of pursuing a career is the greatest guarantee of their success.

The DP is aware of the extraordinary potential that exists in girls and women.

And I guarantee that I will do everything for all spaces in all areas.

Where are we today as a nation? Today as a nation, our strengths are in women and girls.

See where the songs and voices of the beauties of Kosovo and Albania, Dua Lipa, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, Ermonela Jaho, took to the stage.

And today, Mira Murati is on the technological Olympus.

But there is another, the most superior. It is Mother Teresa, who with the gifts of an Albanian girl managed to deserve the greatest title, mother of all humanity.

So, I am here today to pledge to you that the DP program will first aim to urgently intervene in the extreme poverty that hundreds of thousands of Albanian women face today.

The compassion package we call will end extreme poverty.

We will do everything we can to ensure that the minimum wage, which is generally more common among women than men, due to some sectors, is realistic and does not allow it to act as if it were a case of taking some and giving it back.

We will do everything we can to ensure that mothers with children receive child benefits.

That the mother with the third child will be paid from birth to 23 years of age entirely by the state for the third child.

We will do everything for the success of their business with loans, grants, tax differentiation, and all of these are not only in their best interest, but the success of every mother, every sister, every daughter is the success of all Albanians.
