Legendary actor Gene Hackman has been found dead along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa.
The death of the Hollywood star, known for his roles in Superman and French Connection, was announced by Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the couple and their dog were all found dead in their home. The married couple was found dead Wednesday afternoon, and Sheriff Mendoza did not give a cause of death or confirm when the two died.
Hackman, 95, won two Oscars during his six-decade career. He rose to fame with his role in Bonnie and Clyde and earned a reputation as one of Hollywood's most highly regarded actors.
Arakawa was 63 years old and the couple had been married since 1991. Hackman retired from acting in 2004 with his last appearance in the film Welcome to Mooseport.
