Residents of Baldushku in Tirana hold funeral with Zetor, without the body

A few kilometers from Tirana, the residents of the village of Baldushk escort their loved ones to their final resting place by tractor, crossing the Zhullima River.

They load the coffin onto the tractor trailer, and they themselves get on it to take it to the cemetery. This is because for 20 years or more there has been no bridge over the Zhullim River. In cases of heavy rainfall, this river overflows its bed, flooding the road and its level reaches over 1 meter. In cases when the weather is dry, the residents accompany their loved ones who leave this life on foot, but not without rubber boots. Otherwise, the road is impassable.

The show "Fiks Fare" went to Çiflig Kodër in Baldushk and climbed up to the hill where the cemetery is located. The road to the cemetery from the village is over 1 km. The residents are looking for a solution to the situation because if they don't have a tractor and the river has overflowed its bed, the body will be left unburied. "This way we escort people to their final resting place can be compared to the Middle Ages," they say. The only request they have as a village is the construction of a bridge.

Fiksi also met the driver of the tractor and described the route with him by tractor, just like the residents do when they go to the cemetery. He claims that for more than 20 years, accompanying the dead to their last home by tractor has become his job. In 20 years, the cases have been very diverse, and there have even been cases when the tractor trailer could have fallen over. "We lowered the coffin to the ground and it was impossible to bury the body that day," says the tractor driver. He says that he does not only make one route when there are funerals, as he loads the coffin and the family members into the trailer. He has to make several routes until all the people gather to respect the deceased. "I have a call because I will not do this job forever, but when I can no longer do it, what will we do? Will we leave them unburied? For this, I ask that measures be taken as soon as possible and a solution be found," he concludes.

Fiks Fare was interested in the problem of the lack of a road to the cemetery in the Çiflig Kodër neighborhood near the Baldushk Administrative Unit.

In his response, the administrator of this unit, Mr. Kujtim Vishi, says that the residents of this neighborhood have never approached this unit about the road problem. However, the administrative unit is aware of the condition of this road and other unpaved roads in Baldushk.

According to Administrator Vishi, the road leading to the cemetery of the Çiflig Kodër neighborhood requires a capital investment, including the construction of a bridge and the expropriation of lands where the road will pass, as it currently crosses the river in a segment of 200 linear meters.

The head of this unit promises that in the 2025 budget they will include the construction of the bridge and the paving of the road in the list of priorities that will be sent to the General Directorate of Public Works in the Municipality of Tirana. Until then, in Çiflig Kodër, people will continue to go to their last apartment by Zetor. Top Channel
