On the evening of May 30, 2025, the editorial office of the show "Piranjat" received some disturbing videos filmed at the city's waste collection site, near the village of Hardhishte. The situation was almost apocalyptic, which lasted throughout the evening and until the next day. Of course, "Piranjat" went urgently to document everything. The residents of the area were terrified by the event that occurred during the night.

"The smoke suffocated us all night, there was no fighting. The entire area was completely covered like fog. It's never been dry. We are two elderly people in the house, we can't stand the bad smell, it takes our breath away, and what's worse, there's nowhere to go," said a gentleman passing by.

"They did a good job of fumigating us all night with a good smell. There's nowhere worse to go, with the doors and windows closed, very bad. The smoke covered the entire area. It was terrible, last night and this morning," said a man in his 50s, working the land.

"Where are you, my mother?! It's so bad. They said, 'What are these things that are burning?! Oh my God, it's so bad. My house is there, we couldn't open the doors. It was filled with smoke, it smelled bad,'" complained an elderly woman.

In the morning, the village seemed deserted, the houses with their doors and windows closed. The film crew approached the problematic area, and a fire truck and a fire engine immediately arrived. The flames had gotten out of control, and apart from the nearby reeds, they had not spared even the living creatures that were in their habitat. The perimeter covered by the flames was large.

On the one hand, the encapsulation process was applied, throwing soil to smother the flames, while on the other hand, the officers did their best with just a water hose. Thick smoke kept coming and covered the entire surrounding area. Minutes passed, but the situation did not improve. The flames were still active and the smoke continued to cover the area. In some garbage piles, the flames were still burning, and the officers stopped working after many minutes of fighting the most dangerous fires.

During the minutes that the filming crew was present at the waste collection site in Hardishte, apart from the employees of the municipality and the company contracted to clean the city, as well as the firefighters, no representative of the IKMT showed up to conduct the field observation, or employees of the Police and Prosecution Office to keep a record of the situation.

But the mayor of Shijak, Elton Arbana, was quick to react. He declared that the arsonists were imaginary and linked them to opposing parties. Beyond the irony, some questions require clear answers:

How can a mayor draw conclusions and provide expertise on the causes of the fire, just a few hours after it started, when apart from firefighters, there was no institution responsible for the expertise present on the ground?

After getting out of the Range Rover, Freard Rista, a journalist for the show "Piranjat", had another confrontation with the mayor. Arbana not only did not take the responsibilities that were due to him, but also refused to publicly apologize after everything that had been proven by the show, and insisted that he had not lied.
