Oh Albania, you have no old age!

Oh Albania, you have no old age!

Today, no one asks you: "How many years do you want to retire?"

The question you commonly hear is: "How many years will you work after retirement?"

After it comes out, no one hesitates to ask: How much did your pension cost?

While many young people are busy with "careers" as influencers on Instagram and TikTok, someone has to keep the economy afloat. Influencers can't harvest wheat in Divjaka, or pick apples in Korça. And if you think this is a fad, here are the numbers:

In 2023, the age group 60 years and older comprised 23.5% of the population.

At the end of last year (2024) the employment rate for the over-65 age group reached 23.2%, a staggering increase compared to 17% in 2023.

Albania holds the bronze medal for the number of pensioners who work after retirement (first place is temporarily held by Iceland, followed by Estonia).
The future belongs to the young, but the work belongs to the old.

So, if you are a pensioner and don't intend to get bored watching TV (which is, needless to say, more tiring than work itself), you better go and work, even in shifts. Because Albania needs a hero, and that hero is you, you who never get old and continue to work tirelessly.

At this rate, it is no wonder that INSTAT calls this age group "NATO's reserve force," while the government will give them the "worker bee" award.

Today, he manages to get by with his pension for 1 week, the rest is covered by love for his homeland, work "in the fields, factories, construction sites" and the hope that in 2030 he will have a "European passport".
