Protest in Spaç, after restoration interventions

Citizens and former persecuted people protested against restoration interventions in the former political prison of Spaç. They denounce the erasure of historical memory and demand the suspension of the works.

Authorities are accused of a lack of transparency and using the site as a film set.

The mayor of Mirdita, Albert Melyshi, also participated in the protest, calling on institutions to review the intervention and include the voices of victims in every decision-making.

"To preserve the inalienable identity of the former Spaç prison. Of course, the Mirditë municipality institution, even though it is within the municipality's territory, has requested this type of information and we will definitely react so that this institution's identity is preserved because it serves," he said.
