Accident at the "Albchrome" factory in Elbasan, three people arrested

A serious accident was recorded on Wednesday afternoon at the Albchrome Ferrochrome Plant, in the Papri industrial area, where an employee was seriously injured during a technical intervention. As a result of the incident, three people who were supervising the work process have been detained for suspected violations of safety protocols.

Sources from the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office indicate that the detention of the responsible persons was ordered by the Elbasan Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether safety regulations at work were violated that may have led to the serious accident.

The incident occurred at around 12:15 in the ferrochrome shredding department, where mechanic Rudin Meçja was seriously hit by a metal plate detached from the processing equipment. He suffered serious injuries to his shoulder and spine and is in serious condition in hospital.

At the time of the accident, process engineer Rexhep Xhardja, mechanical foreman Myslym Hoxha and mechanical engineer Fatjon Ikonomi were also in the department. The accident occurred during a routine intervention to replace the plates of the shredding device, a common technical operation on the production line.

The incident has once again raised concerns about safety standards in workplaces, especially in the country's industrial areas, where accidents are often reported due to the lack of appropriate technical and organizational measures.
