Sokol Kryeziu appears in the GJKKO for the Veliaj file

Businessman Sokol Kryeziu appeared today at the Special Court for the security measure verification session, after being accused of "active corruption" in the SPAK file involving the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

Kryeziu was abroad when the GJKKO signed the security measures requested by SPAK, while he has returned to Albania to implement the measure given to him, "obligation to appear".

In the February 12 session, the GJKKO left the same security measure in force for businessmen Gentian Sula, Fatmir Bektashi, Meriman Palushi and Shkëlqim Fusha. Meanwhile, businessman Elman Bule and Mayor Veliaj were left in prison, while for Ajola Xoxa, Veliaj's wife, the measure was changed from "house arrest" to "compulsory appearance."

Veliaj's arrest
Erion Veliaj was arrested on February 10 at his office in the Municipality of Tirana, on suspicion of passive corruption and money laundering. According to SPAK, investigations show that Veliaj and his wife, Ajola Xoxa, created and put into operation a scheme that provided illegal benefits from public funds administered by the Municipality of Tirana.

According to the prosecution, these benefits were realized through camouflaged and illegal actions, aiming at the personal enrichment of Veliaj and his family. Investigations continue to uncover the entire network involved in this affair.
