Rama attacks international media: Why do you make a protest with 2,000 people so

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted harshly to international media and social platforms for the way, according to him, the protest taking place in Tirana against the tourist project on the island of Sazan is being covered.

In a long message addressed to global media, including CNN, as well as popular platforms Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok, Rama questioned the scale given to the protest in international reports, arguing that the actual participation was much lower than the perception created in the public.

According to him, today's protest has gathered about 2 thousand people, while the highest participation in recent days has not exceeded 8 thousand protesters. The Prime Minister raises the question of how a local protest has turned into an event with global resonance and accuses what he calls "orchestrated digital hysteria."

"As we speak, today's protest has gathered around 2,000 participants. It's the lowest turnout so far, but even at its peak, it has never exceeded 8,000 people.

So how is it possible that what much of the world has seen over the past few days seems so big, so dramatic, so overwhelming?

At some point, when the orchestrated digital hysteria of these days has passed and emotions have calmed down, the democratic world should take a closer look at how the gap between reality and its representation became so wide.

Along the way, deepfakes, manipulated images, fabricated claims, coordinated amplification, anonymous networks, and online behaviors emerged that bear many of the characteristics of hybrid information warfare, which is increasingly influencing public debate in democratic societies ," Rama writes.
