Antimafia dismantles Italian-Albanian cocaine organization, 12 arrested and 13

An Italian-Albanian organization was dismantled during an anti-drug operation by the Antimafia in Rovato.

The Carabinieri of the Brescia Investigative Unit, together with units from Ancona, Bergamo, Brindisi, Grosseto and Mantua, executed an order from the investigating judge, at the request of the Antimafia Directorate.

All twelve people were placed under house arrest or in prison, under investigation for conspiracy to traffic drugs. At the same time, 13 other people were wanted for possession with intent to sell.

The investigation, which began in October 2023 after the arrest of an Albanian, identified a group made up of Italians and Albanians with a logistical base in Rovato. It operated in the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo and, through couriers, along the Adriatic coast, particularly in the regions of Marche and Puglia.

According to the army, they used a pizzeria in the area around Brescia as a front to sell cocaine in bulk, by the kilo.

They recruited Albanian dealers who entered Italy on tourist permits and used cars with fake tails to hide the drugs.

During the operation, the carabinieri arrested eleven other people in flagrante delicto and seized approximately three kilograms of cocaine.
