"Protect the land", amid protests, EU reminds Rama of the condition

The European Union Delegation in Tirana has reacted again to Prime Minister Edi Rama, as citizens continue to protest against resorts in protected areas.

In a response, the EU delegation refers to land protection as a necessity and not a choice. In the accompanying message, the EU emphasizes that land protection sustains life, giving a clear signal to the Prime Minister.

“The earth is not just the surface or the stones we walk on. It is a living world beneath our feet, full of life, processes and balances that we often do not see, but that directly affect our daily lives.

"When the soil is damaged, everything is affected: our food, the balance of nature and our future. Therefore, caring for it is not a choice, but a necessity.  Protect the soil, it sustains life," writes the European delegation in Tirana.

Earlier, Reuters reported in an article that the European Commission has demanded that Albania take action to ensure that the Zvërnec project complies with EU environmental legislation "if it wants to join the bloc."

Brussels officials recall that advancing the integration process also depends on meeting environmental standards.
